About being Published...

I want to be honest here...I have not been "published" in the traditional sense. I have a small business called My Very Own Story. I write unique personalized stories for kids and in that sense I have "published" about 7 children's books. Every story is different and based on the details about that child's life...family members, pets, hobbies and friends. Often they depict the child achieving his or her personal dream. I have gotten some very positive feedback from parents and, in one case, a therapist who gave a story to one of her young patients and saw a change in the child's worldview! I do retain all copyrights and may someday change the names of those involved, so that my children's stories can be published by a publishing company, should the opportunity ever arise! =^..^=

As a +50 writer (and this group is mostly younger) who has also fought to find time to write while working full time and raising a family, I can totally relate. I also have a BA in English and am now running my own web design company at home while doing final edits on book 1 of an UF series and another project for NaNoWriMo. I write (and read) mostly paranormal/urban fantasy, though I love anything that transports me out of our current reality. Maybe we could talk sometime. I've founded a small writing group from this site and while that is closed to further membership right now, I welcome a new voice and input.
