I write catagory, romantic suspense and some paranormal. No vamps or anything furry, mostly just psychics and ghosts, although I do have an idea for something a little darker. More spicey than sweet.
What do you write?
novels
Are you a pantser, a plotter, or a hybrid?
hybrid
What is your current project?
My current project is getting my office organized so I can get back to writing seriously. As for writing, the most recent thing I've been working on is a ST romantic suspense with paranormal elements. I am also trying to sort out what's lacking from a Superromance aimed ms that I'm planning to pitch at the end of September.
How long have you been writing?
On and off since about grade six. I picked up the pen seriously to write romance in 2000.
Published or Aspiring?

What do you feel is your greatest strength as a writer?
I feel my greatest strength as a writer is being able to cut through some of the things that aren't totally necessary to a story. I also try to be very complimentary when something's working, and supportive when somehting needs looking at, offering suggestions if I have any, and working with a CP to hash out and brainstorm problems.
What do you feel is your greatest weakness as a writer?
Up until recently I'd say that my greatest weakness as a writer has been my loss of creativity and enthusiasm for writing due to being pulled in too many other directions outside of writing. Having said that, I've quit that job, changed what was sucking the life out of me and am ready to get down to the serious act of writing.
Do you have any specialized knowledge in some field?
I am a horsewoman, I own two horses, I've been involved in showing horses for, yikes, over 20 years. I am also somewhat knowledgeable in the area of paranormal and other areas of spirituality. I also have experience from my full time job working with children and adults with developmental disabilities.

For some reason, I'm not getting CP's messages into my email. so unless I check everyone's profile page, I have no idea someone has commented.

I just got results back from the Toronto Romance Writers' Contest. I need a critique partner if I'm going to continue writing. In past contests, I have had a lot of positives, but this one just blew me away.
I have a completed ms (the one that I had entered), but like you, I'm thinking of scrapping it. I've worked on it for two years so it's quite disappointing. I have another ms that is over half finished. I think I will start with that one with you, if you don't mind?
email me and I can get the first chapter(s) to you and then you can send me yours.
Loving the Olympics. My husband has to leave the living room as I roar for victory....Nice to beat last record for medals.
Hey Jo-Anne,
I have an aunt and uncle in Prince Albert, a nephew and niece also in Sask, though my niece is moving back to Ontario soon. I'm not sure where they are, but I know my nephew is in a town of about 200.
I'm rather looking for the same when it comes to a CP as you. However, that being said, my ms isn't completed as yet, but if you're interested in swapping with me, I'd be more than happy to take yours a chapter at a time, and then send you mine as I get to that point. The only MS, that I feel is complete enough to submit, was already rejected by Intimate Moments, and I'm thinking I need to tear out the whole thing and start again.
I am taking some time off work next week and visiting dbf's family, so I'd have plenty of time on the car ride up to Ottawa and back to critique a chapter for you. It's 4 hours one way, so there's time a plenty for reading.
Let me know if you're interested, and what type of critique you want. I would also be more than happy to send you a sample of my writing to see if we're compatible.
Cheers (and cheering for Team Canada at the Olympics!)
Hi Anne
I live in Saskatchewan. Nice to see another Canuck. I'm looking for a near full-time CP who will swap chapters with me.
(Had a huge laugh when read your last comment about Harmony)
I hear ya, I'm not exactly debt free, (having two horses and a soon to be 12 yo daughter isn't cheap) but I had enough and decided I'd worked two + jobs for long enough. My full time job is nights, ten hour shifts, so that does allow for some freetime, so one extra shift a week is all I'll do, unless I'm saving for something specific, such as, oh, I don't know, Nationals or a new saddle, or something, lol. I'm ready to get back serious about it. I've been fortunate and finaled in Karin Tabke's First Line contest once, and won last year's First Kiss contest put on by the New England chapter of RWA. So, I know it's there, in some respect, it's just getting serious about me and my writing.
I've currently got 2 "real world" jobs, so juggling writing in the midst of it often gets difficult. DH and I are in the process of rapidly paying down debt, and as soon as it's gone, I'm down to ONE job.
