Detailed Crit Partner Info
For a crit partner - I can do line-by-line, but not comma's :) I'm in the habit of putting them where they feel right, and I don't really enjoy any of the English\School grammar. As for : and ; I have no clue. I hate them, refuse to use them. So, If you have them, I couldn't tell you if they're right or not.
I can crit pretty fast, a chapter in a day or two wouldn't be hard. If you want a line edit, or an overall edit, I can do either. I have a hard time ignoring something in a sentence that strikes me as wrong, so you'll probably end up getting a bit of the detailed edits anyway.
For an overall edit, I prefer to do it on a bulk basis, because I've found that critting chapters really looses a feel for the book as a whole. Like I said earlier, I'm a fast reader. If you want me to crit a novel length piece, I would be able to set aside a few days to a week and get it back to you.
I will admit, I'm used to critting on paper (both for myself and my local crit group), but I'm still able to do it on my laptop.
Looking for - Like I said, I have a almost complete novel. I'm hoping to be done with the final edit and polishing in the next few weeks. In my local group, we submit 10-15 pages every two weeks, so I really loose the 'Overall' impressions. Also, they've seen most of this work in various stages, and I need some fresh eyes.
I don't mind looking at a partners work as they need it - chapter or overall. But what I really need is the overall impression. I don't mind small details, but for this particular, my main needs:
Flow and Pacing
Tense (I can catch a tense issue in 3rd person a mile away, but for some reason, 1st passes me by)
Character growth and consitancy
Catching triteness and\or cliches
I will crit anything, but I really need someone who's familiar with the fantasy genre (Preferably YA as well), so they can spot anything that's 'Overdone'.
Thanks, Amber
