I'm a pantser for sure, as it is my habit to think of a good idea and then surround it immediately with a plot that I barely control. It can be quite frightening.

What is your current project?
In the (Hopefully) final edit\polish of a YA Fantasy - 70k and doing research and a bit of planning for an Urban Fantasy.

Final Edit of YA, Research & Outlining UF
I'm looking for a CP who
wants to swap full drafts just for critique
How long have you been writing?
Years
Published or Aspiring?
aspiring
What do you feel is your greatest strength as a writer?
I think I'm decent on characterization and description. I've been told I have a good 'voice', of course with each new book that 'voice' changes. I can spell, use punctuation and am pretty decent with grammar used for writing (Hate english\schooling grammar though).
What do you feel is your greatest weakness as a writer?
I recently rewrote my YA Fantasy as 1st person, and I'm getting better but have issues catching my tense changes. Which is funny, because I can spot the wrong tense in 3rd person a mile off.

I tend to miss parts in the overall picture, redundancies and overemphasizing things. These are really hard to catch as the writer.
Do you have any specialized knowledge in some field?
I've been with a local Crit group for 1 1\2 years now. While they are great, they've seen my novel in most of it's stages so I'd really like a fresh set of eyes.

Detailed Crit Partner Info

For a crit partner - I can do line-by-line, but not comma's :) I'm in the habit of putting them where they feel right, and I don't really enjoy any of the English\School grammar. As for : and ; I have no clue. I hate them, refuse to use them. So, If you have them, I couldn't tell you if they're right or not.
I can crit pretty fast, a chapter in a day or two wouldn't be hard. If you want a line edit, or an overall edit, I can do either. I have a hard time ignoring something in a sentence that strikes me as wrong, so you'll probably end up getting a bit of the detailed edits anyway.
For an overall edit, I prefer to do it on a bulk basis, because I've found that critting chapters really looses a feel for the book as a whole. Like I said earlier, I'm a fast reader. If you want me to crit a novel length piece, I would be able to set aside a few days to a week and get it back to you.
I will admit, I'm used to critting on paper (both for myself and my local crit group), but I'm still able to do it on my laptop.

Looking for - Like I said, I have a almost complete novel. I'm hoping to be done with the final edit and polishing in the next few weeks. In my local group, we submit 10-15 pages every two weeks, so I really loose the 'Overall' impressions. Also, they've seen most of this work in various stages, and I need some fresh eyes.

I don't mind looking at a partners work as they need it - chapter or overall. But what I really need is the overall impression. I don't mind small details, but for this particular, my main needs:
Flow and Pacing
Tense (I can catch a tense issue in 3rd person a mile away, but for some reason, 1st passes me by)
Character growth and consitancy
Catching triteness and\or cliches

I will crit anything, but I really need someone who's familiar with the fantasy genre (Preferably YA as well), so they can spot anything that's 'Overdone'.

Thanks, Amber

Hey Amber, I think you and are at the same place. I would be happy to do a swap. I've just finished my YA novel at 85k with paranormal elements and I also need a pair of fresh eyes. Wanna swap? Email me at Jourdania@gmail.com. Thanks.

Hey, sorry I didn't get back to you Amber. I think we may be a good match. I am just about done with an edit on a 90K paranormal suspense. I have one or two beta readers/CPs that are going to give it the once over for me, but I'd love another one. Would be very willing to swap and read your YA Fantasy. I have 2 agents who are waiting to read the full, so I am hoping for some kind of quick turnaround, a week or less. Would that be possible???

Thanks for your comment! I would love to hear more about your story. It sounds interesting. I think I've tentatively found a new crit partner, but it's still in the early stages and anything can happen.

Welcome, Amber, and I have to say I'm glad you found your way here from Nathan's blog since I'm the one who put the link there!

Being an urban fantasy writer myself, glad to welcome another into the fold.
