Looking For Someone in Mystery/Romantic Suspense
My beloved CP is taking a hiatus from writing for a while to focus on her fabulous new business, so I am in the market! I'm looking for someone to be a regular crit partner to brainstorm/plot, critique, and motivate each other on a weekly basis. Knowledge of police procedure a plus. I prefer someone to be around a project from the ground up (as it makes life easier to bounce ideas off of someone you've updated once who actually knows what you are talking about), but I am also willing to work chapter by chapter. At this time, full manuscripts at once are just too much pressure/time consuming to fit in my schedule (at least in any timely manner). I've been writing cumulatively for about 10 years (once you eliminate all the downtime of school and other distractions over the last 16 years) and seek an experienced writer (not necessarily published but someone not new to the writing game) who also writes in the mystery/romantic suspense genres and has read widely in them.
I actually wrote up a brief summary of the romantic suspense I'm currently reworking (this whole summary thing is not a strong suit of mine): The summer Wyatt Hamilton turned ten, he found a dead body that changed his life. Haunted by the victim--literally--he's made it his life's work to track down her killer and set them both free. It's an obsession that's interfered with every aspect of having a normal life. So no one's more surprised than Wyatt when his grandmother's matchmaking scheme to set him up with down-to-earth innkeeper Marin Bishop actually works out. But when the killer sets his sights on Marin, Wyatt must race the clock and Marin's skepticism to save the woman he loves.
I'm on Chapter 3 of the rewrite (after stopping to replot/outline the entire thing--or almost the entire thing--from beginning to end). I'm happy to swap a few chapters to check for compatibility.
