Hi, I'm Tessa. I work at a "pet resort", and do a little dog-walking and pet sitting on the side. I just graduated high school at 17, and am working for a while until I figure out what I want to do with my life. I have been writing for about 12 years (I made my first 'book' when I was about five years old) and I have been published several times by small magazines. I used to volunteer edit a small magazine, but quit because of moral issues. I am currently working on a fantasy/scifi/semi-horror novel with a little bit of romance, though that isn't the main story. I have finished the first draft (the story looks like it will be more than one novel long!) and am working on revising. I am looking for a critter willing to read long manuscripts and comment thoroughly on them, and am willing to do the same in return. I have about three years experience with critiquing writing, and though i am best at fantasy and scifi, I am willing to critique works from other genres as well.

Hey all, I'm Amber.

I've always been a writer and a heavy reader (speed reading is my specialty, I can devour a novel in a day). I'm now a stay-at-home-mommy of 4 (Ages: Boys - 11, 9, Girls - 7 and almost 3), and am hoping to earn some money with my writing.

I am currently on the (hopefully) final\polishing edit of a YA Fantasy-Adventure that is the first in a planned series. Also, I am in the research\planning stages of an Urban Fantasy. There will be some romance, but not enough to really call it Paranormal Romance.

For my detailed critting info, please see my page.

Thanks, Amber

Hey guys! I already did an intro in the group thread, but it's morning and I've just had tea so I'm in a good mood.

I'm a student in Melbourne, I work both at a scifi/fantasy bookstore and as a stuntman, and in all my spare time I write. Most of my stories end up in the spec fic genre, although I branch out from time to time when the whim takes me. I like my tea with milk but no sugar, and I'm always choose cats over dogs.

Hi all! This is such an awesome site.

My name is Lauren, but I go by Lo to friends. By day I am a Director of IT for a smallish software company in Chicago. By night I do alot of things, not the least of which is work on my novel.

I read mostly high/epic fantasy as well as low fantasy with deep characterizations. I love fantasy because I like how people are people no matter what situations they are in.

My current novel is an epic fantasy featuring a reluctant heroine who, despite the fact that she'd rather be writing about rather than living through history-changing events, must literally put the world back together. There are elements of political intrigue and steampunk entering at around the second third of the book.

I'd like to find someone who wants to exchange work in 10-20k chunks and is really motivated to finish their work. Fantasy with compelling characters would be best.

Hi , I'm Michelle . I've been writing on and off for about 9 years but haven't taken it seriously until two years ago when I started working on my Y/A novel . I write mainly in the fantasy genre and the fantasy sub-genre of Urban Fantasy .The current novel I am working on is a mixture between Urban Fantasy and Dark Fantasy that deals with Demons ,Necromancers and Vampires (oh my!). Just not in the typical fashion of the three (otherwise why would I even bother ?)
I'm currently looking for someone to bounce ideas off of at the moment ,so if you are a good wall to bounce metaphorical idea balls off of , message me .
Michelle

Hi, I'm Mike, Aka Big Nutter.

I'm writing when I am not looking for where my next pay check is coming from. Ok, I'm unemployed. Chances are you can guess that I'm a Guy, and but you can't guess that I'm in my mid 20s. I'm what some of you call a Geek. I'm also interested in Podcasting. (Blame Mur Lafferty!)

I am unsure where to put myself, as a writer.

I've done little critting.. And also I know there are problems with my work.. or else why I join here.

I've posted parts of the two stories here on my LJ. These two stories are going by the WIP Titles of Gamma and Gamma Zero: The Fall. Both Stories are very related. They seem to be in the Fantasy area, but then they could fit in other categories with some ease to.

Hey everyone. This is a bit new for me because I'm kind of shy, but I'm going to give it my best!

I'm Ceri, and I'm a university student by day and a huge Art History nerd. I spend most of my free time writing and drawing, and harassing my girlfriend to read my stories (which by now I think she's quite tired of). I have a pet cat named Solid Snake.

I don't really know much about genres and such, but it seems to me I write mostly Speculative Fiction? I tend to combine a lot of elements together, and a lot of my stories have alternate history settings. Some of my favorite subjects to write about are crime syndicates, the occult, alchemy, and gardens.

I'm currently finishing up the first draft for part one of a sci-fi mystery, as well as a supernatural short story I came up with over Thanksgiving weekend. I'm pretty new to writing so I haven't gotten anyone to read my stuff yet- but I think it's time I came out of my shell and met some like-minded writers. I write a lot (so much I tend to push my homework to the side), and quickly, so I'm looking to go over drafts or just exchange chunks of ideas. Whatever works for you.

Anyway. I've rambled long enough! I look forward to meeting you all! Once I finish my homework I'm going to go out on a limb and give some hellos to some of you. :D

Hi all, I'm Seadhlinn. I'm a student, currently working on an Evolution and Ecology thesis. Besides that, I knit, run, paint, cook (I work as a kosher caterer), play Celtic music, and generally goof off. Right now, I live with two roommates, and a leopard gecko named Tony.
Aside from that, I'm part Carib, part Scottish Celtic, so my writing is almost all about issues of cultural/national identity in some way. Since I tend to find much of history inherently weird and amusing (comedy = tragedy+time, right?), my current project is a postmodern black comedy about Scottish nationalism and the 1745 Jacobite uprising. However, I promise I'm not actually that pretentious!
@Lockea: good job getting involved in mental health advocacy! It's something very important to me as well.
