I've always been a writer and a heavy reader (speed reading is my specialty, I can devour a novel in a day). I'm now a stay-at-home-mommy of 4 (Ages: Boys - 11, 9, Girls - 7 and almost 3).
I am currently on the (hopefully) final\polishing edit of a YA Fantasy-Adventure that is the first in a planned series. Also, I am in the research\planning stages of an Urban Fantasy. There will be some romance, but not enough to really call it Paranormal Romance.
I like the idea of group crit because in my local group, I've noticed that each person catches something different, because they read differently and look for specific things.
I would be interested in a group of 3-4 people dedicated to reading the final draft of a novel.
I will line edit anything but children's, YA, Erotica and Sweet Romance of the standard Harlequin type. If it's paranormal romance, or historical, that's okay. I like both and have WIPs in both.
Be aware before you contact me that I'm an honest critiquer. If you deserve praise, you'll get it, but you'll also get the bad news. Hopefully, the positive will outweigh the negative. It usually does, because most writers don't approach a CP until they're work is the best it can be.
I ask the same honesty of a CP. If I were confident my work was ready to be published, I wouldn't be asking for fresh eyes. I expect a CP to find errors and I'm thick-skinned enough to take honesty.
I'm writing when I am not looking for where my next pay check is coming from. Ok, I'm unemployed. Chances are you can guess that I'm a Guy, and but you can't guess that I'm in my mid 20s. I'm am what some of you call a Geek. I'm also interested in Podcasting. (Blame Mur Lafferty!)
I am unsure where to put myself, as a writer. I do Sci-fi, and I'm working through two stories that I can't place.
I've done little critting.. And also I know there are problems with my work.. or else why I join here.
I've posted parts of the two stories here on my LJ.
I have been making up stories for a long as I can remember, but only committing them to paper since I was twelve. I dabble in various genres but my most consistent choice tends to be Fantasy with a bit of romance, paranormal and sometimes horror thrown in.
Currently working on a piece I started in highschool, branched in to a two part series comprised of 11 books, now tearing them to pieces and rewriting most of it from the ground up. Currently half way through the rewrite of the first book to the first series. If anyone is interested in taking me on as a CP - I am looking for someone honest, able to give the honest truth and not sugar coat it. You don't need to be terribly mean though :P Just honest.
I have serious intentions about looking towards getting an agent but I want to have someone pull this story apart as much as possible, expose as many of the flaws as they can, so that way I can ensure I present the best possbile finished piece to the literary agency I've had my eye on for quite some time.
If you'd like a brief excerpt of the story to get an idea of what its about, I would be more then happy to do so.
I would be more then happy to return the critiques and will be just as honest and forth coming. I enjoy fantasy, some Sci Fi but nothing too technical, murder/mystery, romance, historical, horror and paranormal. YA or erotica would be okay too - I don't flinch too easily.
